Jim has a degree in Music Education from the University of Akron, Akron, Ohio and teaches at the store he and his wife established – Lafayette Music in Lafayette.

Along with teaching 18 students, Jim performs in several local area groups, including the Rocky Mountain Jazz Project and the Boulder Big Band. He has also performed with the Timberline Symphony, the Boulder Concert Band and the Rocky Mountain Concert Band.

Jim and his wife, Roberta, live in Lafayette and have two grown children.
